ANA to introduce sustainable-themed livery on two B787s – Business Traveller

All Nippon Airways (ANA) will decorate two of its B787 aircraft in a sustainable-themed livery this autumn.

The ‘ANA Future Promise’ livery will be used to highlight the company’s commitment to its environmental, social responsibility and governance (ESG) initiatives.

The two aircraft will be painted with a design featuring water and greenery, and will be operated on domestic and international routes from October.

The aircraft will also feature special services and inflight goods focused on sustainability and the reduction of CO2 emissions. ANA says that this will involve collaborating with partners involved in the development of sustainable products and services, and expanding meal menus to use ingredients grown using compost derived from inflight food waste.

ANA will gather feedback from customers on the measures introduced and analyse them in order to expand the efforts on other flights. This will help the carrier to achieve its mid-to-longterm ESG goals – it aims to achieve zero CO2 emissions from aircraft operations by 2050.

This initiative comes a year after the launch of its ESG programme known as ANA Future Promise.

Shinichi Inoue, president and CEO of ANA, commented on the news:

“Sustainability is a central operating principal to our company and the ANA Future Promise demonstrates commitment to our social responsibility and environmental sustainability goals, and we are excited to get our customers involved and raise awareness in these initiatives with the dedicated AFP 787s.

“We previously announced our ambitious ESG goals and this is another milestone to build on the importance that ESG has to our airline and global customers.”

The airline also recently expanded its sustainable aviation fuel option to corporate travel, following its launch in October 2021 for cargo customers.
