Hilton has announced plans to add its first property in the French Riviera resort city of Cannes.
The Canopy by Hilton Cannes will open in 2023, and will feature 143 rooms and suites, most with balconies and sea views.
Features will include a 400 sqm rooftop terrace, bar and restaurant, a combined indoor and outdoor swimming pool, spa facilities, 380 sqm of conference and events space, and the brand’s signature Canopy Central lobby lounge.
Hilton confirmed in a press release that Canopy by Hilton Cannes would be housed within a renovated property – Business Traveller understands that this will be a conversion of the existing Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel, Cannes, as both properties are listed as being located at 2 Bd Jean Hibert, 06400 Cannes.
The Canopy by Hilton brand was launched in 2014, with the first mainland Europe hotel opening in Zagreb in November 2018.
There are currently around 30 Canopy hotels open worldwide, with over 30 additional properties under development.
Recent openings in Europe include the Canopy by Hilton London City, and the Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadéro – for a review of this property, see:
Commenting on the news Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said:
“Cannes is a world-class destination, hosting international events and leisure travellers from all over the globe.
“Having introduced Canopy by Hilton to Paris’ lively Trocadero neighbourhood last year, Cannes is a fitting home for our second Canopy hotel in France, and joins Hilton’s burgeoning European lifestyle portfolio.
“With more than 20 new Hilton hotels planned in France in the next few years, we’re excited to extend our hospitality across the country, including Canopy by Hilton’s highly anticipated arrival on the Cote d’Azur.”
