London’s The Dorchester to auction off 2,000 items as part of refurb project – Business Traveller

Furniture and fittings will also go on sale from the hotel’s promenade and bar, as well as signed prints by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, Derek Rangecroft and Heidi Koenig, and luxury Italian lighting and chandeliers from Laudarte and Barovier and Toso.

The hotel will remain open during the renovations, with afternoon tea being served in the Orchid Room, and a new rooftop restaurant set to open this summer.

Commenting on the news Simon Rose of Pro Auction said:

“This major renovation project for the hotel brings with it the opportunity to purchase a piece of the hotel’s history at auction as the owners pave the way for a new chapter for The Dorchester.”

Last year The Westbury Hotel off Bond Street in London’s Mayfair auctioned off 8,000 items of furniture and fittings ahead of a similar renovation project which will see the luxury hotel converted to the St Regis brand.
