Lufthansa introduces fast-track security for all customers on selected routes from Munich – Business Traveller

Lufthansa has announced a new fast-track security initiative for customers travelling on selected routes from its Munich hub.

The carrier said on LinkedIn that those passengers flying from Munich to Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne can now use new fast-track lanes situated at the airport’s central security checkpoint in Terminal 2.

Lufthansa added that the lanes were for use “independent of class and status”, and had been designed to shorten the time spent at the security checkpoint, “especially for business travellers on flights to selected destinations”.

The airline said that monitors display customer information regarding which departures the lanes are valid for, and noted that the services would be suspended “during vacation periods”, then the fast-track lanes would be available exclusively for families and passenger with reduced mobility.

The carrier added that it planned to expand the service to flights departing Munich for Brussels, Frankfurt, Vienna and Zurich.

It’s the latest in a series of Lufthansa initiatives at Berlin airport – earlier this year the carrier piloted new biometric services enabling Lufthansa Group HON Circle and Senator members to access priority security lanes through facial recognition rather than the usual presenting of a valid boarding pass.

And in spring of this year Lufthansa unveiled new and refurbished Senator and Business lounges at the airport, located at the north pier of Terminal 1 close to gate B20.
