Minor Hotels to debut Anantara brand in Austria – Business Traveller

Minor Hotels will bring its luxury Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas brand to the Austrian capital of Vienna next year.

Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will open in March 2024 and is a rebranding of an existing Kempinski hotel which opened ten years ago.

The hotel is located on Schottenring, part of the city’s Ring Boulevard, and occupies a listed palace built in 1873 by Theophil Hansen for Vienna World’s Exhibition. The 150-year-old building served as various municipal offices and cultural venues, before becoming a luxury hotel in 2013.

The property is located close to several cultural and artistic attractions, with a nearby U-bahn station also connecting it with the rest of the city.

The hotel will feature 152 “classically decorated” guest rooms and suites across three floors, including the largest presidential suite in Vienna at 270 sqm.

F&B venues will include a Michelin-starred restaurant, regional cuisine at the Wintergarten, a lobby lounge and bar, plus a cigar lounge.

The hotel will also include ten function rooms across the ground floor and mezzanine level, as well as a ballroom which can host events for up to 265 people.

Leisure facilities, meanwhile, will include an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre and spa.

The property will undergo a phased renovation starting in late 2024 and continuing throughout 2025, though there is no planned closure during this period.

Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO – Minor International & CEO – Minor Hotels, commented:

“We are thrilled to be bringing the Anantara brand to Vienna, the undisputed cultural centre of Austria and one of the world capitals of music. Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will offer an unparalleled experience of luxury, elegance and hospitality in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. This is an exciting milestone for both Minor Hotels and Anantara, as we continue to expand our presence and brand portfolio across the continent.”

Part of Minor Hotels group, Thai-based Anantara opened its first European hotel in Portugal’s Algarve region in 2017, and has since added properties in Budapest, Dublin, Marbella, the Amalfi Coast, Nice, Rome, Dublin and Amsterdam.

The brand hopes to open a second Portuguese property within a former monastery in the country’s Alentejo region next year.
