Rosewood to open Munich property in September – Business Traveller

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts is set to open its first property in Germany next month, with a hotel in the Bavarian capital.

Business Traveller first reported on the development in 2017, but can now confirm that Rosewood Munich will open its doors on September 29, 2023.

Located in Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse in Munich’s city centre, the hotel is housed within two landmark buildings which formerly served as the headquarters of the State Bank of Bavaria and the aristocratic residence Palais Neuhaus-Preysing.

Design has been led by Munich-based architectural firm, Hilmer Sattler, and London interior design studio, Tara Bernerd & Partners, both of whom drew inspiration from the historic past of the legacy buildings. The result is a hotel with a contemporary interpretation of Baroque architecture.

The entrance hall features vaulted ceilings and frescoes, preserved from the original bank building, while a central courtyard has also been restored.

The property will include 73 guest rooms, 59 suites and five ‘houses’ (larger apartment-style options with fully equipped kitchens) along with a lobby lounge, brasserie and bar, plus a full-service 1,300 sqm Asaya Spa set over two floors with six treatment rooms, an indoor pool, two saunas, a steam room and 24-hour fitness centre equipped by Technogym. This will be open to local residents as well as visitors.

Dining destinations will include the full-service brasserie Cuvilliés, which offers classic Alpine dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner on a daily basis. Bar Montez, named after the 19th-century dancer and actress Lola Montez, will offer signature cocktails with an emphasis on fresh ingredients, an extensive wine list and premium spirits alongside a live music programme.

The hotel will also offer six event spaces, including two ballrooms (123 sqm and 234 sqm) with outdoor space.
