The St Regis Chicago opens within 101-storey tower – Business Traveller

Marriott has opened the latest US property under its luxury The St Regis brand.

The St Regis Chicago is housed within a 101-storey tower in the city’s Lakeshore East neighbourhood, and features 159 rooms and 33 suites across 11 floors.

Designed by Jeanne Gang, the tower is the world’s tallest building by a female architect, and features “an interconnected series of stacked, frustum-shapes that move rhythmically in and out of plane and extend to various heights”.

Facilities include all-day dining Japanese restaurant Miru, as well as Tre Dita – a Tuscan steakhouse which will open this autumn – and The Drawing Room and Library lounge areas.

The hotel’s 1,100 Wellness Floor overlooks the Chicago River, and features an outdoor sundeck, yoga studio, heated indoor pool and Celebration Bar, and the property also offers the 44 sqm Astor Ballroom accommodating up to 500 guests.

The St Regis Chicago is located next to the 393-condominium Residences at The St. Regis Chicago, which offers access to the hotel’s facilities as well as having its own resident-only amenity floor.

The St Regis brand comprises over 50 properties worldwide, with recent additions including The St Regis Jakarta and The St Regis Downtown, Dubai.

Last year it was announced that The Westbury hotel in London’s Mayfair is to become a St Regis property, following a £90 million transformation project.

Commenting on the news George Fleck, vice president and global brand leader, St Regis Hotels & Resorts, said:

“The debut of The St Regis Chicago signals a significant milestone for the St Regis brand as we grow our footprint in the United States and celebrate our first property in the American Midwest.

“We are proud to open our doors in Chicago, an energetic and dynamic city that, like the St Regis brand, is known for its rich history and pioneering design.

“Through The St Regis Chicago we will debut a new icon within the city, sharing with our guests and local luminaries an architectural masterpiece that also represents the pinnacle of luxury hospitality today.”
