Aer Lingus has switched from Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 at Chicago O’Hare International airport.
The Irish carrier said that the move would enable easier connections to and from American Airlines’ North American services, which are also located at T3.
The switch follows the expansion of a codeshare agreement between Aer Lingus and AA in November last year.
Aer Lingus also highlighted that customers transferring between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 would see their experience enhanced, with no need for further security screening.
The airline has six check-in desks in the departure hall of T3, and eligible business class, AerClub Concierge and Platinum customers enjoy access to the AA Flagship and Admiral lounges.
Aer Lingus currently offers nine flights per week from Dublin to Chicago, with this figure set to rise to 14 weekly services for the summer 2024 season.
The carrier joined the existing transatlantic joint venture with AA, British Airways, Finnair and Iberia in later 2020.
Last year the airline also switched from Terminal 5 to Terminal 7 at New York’s JFK airport, joining American Airlines and BA.
Commenting on the news Susanne Carberry, Aer Lingus’ chief customer officer, said:
“Aer Lingus has a long and proud history flying to Chicago since 1966 and the Dublin to Chicago route is consistently one of our top three transatlantic routes.
“Moving our operations to Terminal 3 in O’Hare International Airport is an exciting milestone and brings us closer with our airline partner American Airlines for the benefit of both of our customers. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming our customers to Terminal 3 on January 24.’”
