British Airways outlines US summer expansion – Business Traveller

British Airways will offer flights to 26 US destinations this summer, with the launch of services to Portland and the resumption of routes to Pittsburgh and San Jose (California).

The carrier originally announced plans to fly between Heathrow and Portland back in December 2019, but the route was pushed back due to Covid-19 and has now finally launched with a five-times-weekly service operating on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

BA has also resumed flights between London and Pittsburgh, and this week will launch a new daily daytime flight from New York’s Newark to London Heathrow, served by the carrier’s B777-200 aircraft featuring the Club Suite cabin.

From June 13 the airline will also resume flights to San Jose, California, and BA is to roster its A380 onto several more US routes in the coming weeks.

The superjumbo has returned to services to Chicago and Vancouver, and Dallas Forth Worth will welcome BA’s largest aircraft for the first time from July 1.

Commenting on the news Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ director of networks and alliances, said:

“This summer British Airways will be flying from 26 US cities to London and we’re very excited to be adding Portland to our list of transatlantic destinations.

“Not only are we the only airline to offer direct flights from Portland to London, but this new route also opens a wide variety of connections for our customers.

“Through Alaska Airlines, our Oneworld partner, British Airways will offer codeshare connections to several destinations operated by Alaska Airlines from Portland.”
